We have been in our Eichler home since 1999. We are the third owners of the house. The layout of our home is still all original.
The kitchen still has the same basic cabinets (with a different finish) and the original footprint. The outside color of the house is very close to the original and we matched the fascia with paint chips found when we were doing some repairs. The address numbers are also original along with many of the globe light fixtures. All the windows are original (except one). The pool was added in the 1980's by the previous owner. When we moved in, we had the backyard completely re-landscaped, the pool re-plastered, and added new tile. In the house, we have installed new Armstrong vinyl tiles in all the rooms to recreate the original look.
We have decorated the house with vintage, original furniture and accessories from the 1950's and 60's.
We have had a great time going to garage sales, flea markets, antique shows, and the SF Art deco shows to find our items.
We have acquired some fine pieces of Heywood-Wakefield and Eames furniture.
A previous owner installed forced air heating and air conditioning, which we plan to remove since the we don?t use it and the equipment is visible (and unsightly) on the roof from the street.
